How does the original Medicare coverage compare with Medicare Advantage plans in Oklahoma?

The Original Medicare Plan

Original Medicare is managed by the federal government. Medicare is an American invention, created in 1965. You're able to go to most doctors enrolled in Medicare as long as they are accepting new patients.

This health insurance plan includes, part A, which is Oklahoma hospital insurance and the coverage generally includes care at skilled nursing facilities and sometimes nursing homes

The original also includes Part B, which is Oklahoma medical insurance and the coverage generally includes preventive care, doctor visits, lab tests, durable medical equipment, and more.

Part A and Part B come with deductible amounts, coinsurance, and/or copayments for most services.

Medicare Part D is a voluntary outpatient prescription drug benefit for people with Medicare in Oklahoma, provided through private plans approved by the federal government. Medicare beneficiaries can choose to enroll in either a stand-alone prescription drug plan (PDP) to supplement traditional Medicare coverage or an Oklahoma Medicare Advantage prescription drug plan (MA-PD), mainly HMOs and PPOs, that cover all Medicare benefits including drugs. The 6-month open enrollment period for Medigap automatically starts the month you're 65 and enrolled in Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance), and it can't be changed or repeated. After this enrollment period, you may not be able to buy a Medigap policy. If you're able to buy one, it may cost more due to past or present health problems.
