Strengthening Safety: VFW supports Sheriff’s “shield” cause

In today’s uncertain times, ensuring safety and security has become more paramount than ever. Whether it’s in our communities, schools, or public spaces, the need for protection against potential threats is an unfortunate reality. However, amidst these challenges, there lies a beacon of hope – the opportunity to make a difference through the power of support and kindness, specifically towards ballistic shields.

Understanding the Need for Ballistic Shields

Ballistic shields serve as a crucial line of defense against various threats, including gunfire and ballistic attacks. They are designed to protect law enforcement officers, security personnel, and even civilians during critical situations. These shields offer a sense of security and confidence, allowing individuals to carry out their duties and activities with reduced risk.

Recently, Veterans of Foreign War contributed a $15,000 check to the Stand 1st Foundation which is committed to making sure every Rogers Country law enforcement agency and school has ballistic shields in place should the need arise.

VFW Senior Vice Commander Les Stanfill is an active supporter of the Stand 1st Foundation and joined Sheriff Scott Walton during the $15,000 check presentation. And on behalf of the foundation, Sheriff Walton accepted the check. Stanfill and Walton are both Claremore High School alumni.

Promoting Peace of Mind

The presence of ballistic shields not only serves as a physical barrier against potential threats but also fosters a sense of peace of mind among individuals within a community. Knowing that measures are in place to address security concerns can alleviate anxiety and fear, allowing people to focus on their daily lives without constant worry about safety.

Law enforcement officers and security personnel are the frontline defenders of our communities. By donating towards ballistic shields, we empower these individuals with the necessary tools to perform their duties effectively and safely. It’s a tangible way of showing appreciation for their service and dedication, while also demonstrating solidarity in promoting a safer environment for all.

Walton acknowledged the past support the VFQ has given to the Sheriff’s Office and the ongoing support for the Stand 1st Foundation and the Sherriff’s Office. “We are dedicated to ensuring that police officers, particularly those in departments with limited resources, have access to essential life-saving ballistic shields,” Walton said.

Creating a Ripple Effect

Donating towards ballistic shields can have a profound impact on enhancing safety within our communities. Every contribution, no matter the size, plays a significant role in ensuring that adequate protection is available where it’s needed most. Whether it’s providing shields to law enforcement agencies, schools, or public venues, each donation contributes towards bolstering security measures and safeguarding lives.

By investing in safety and security, we inspire others to join in the cause and contribute towards a common goal of enhancing public safety. It fosters a sense of unity and collective responsibility, showcasing the power of community action in addressing shared challenges.
